This week brought two major victories for Sutter SEIU-UHW members and their bargaining teams at Amador and Delta, building on the momentum from recent contract wins at Roseville and Solano. Amador members unanimously approved their contract and Delta workers reached a tentative agreement just days after voting to approve a one-day strike.
After reaching a tentative agreement earlier this month on a contract that provides across-the-board wage increases, free family health care, and a three-year contract term, Sutter Amador members voted unanimously to ratify their contract on December 9. Their 100% yes vote showed that, after months of hard work, our bargaining team had secured a great contract.
At Delta, after members approved a one-day Unfair Labor Practices strike scheduled for December 16, management finally got the message. Seeing the unmistakable commitment of SEIU-UHW members to stand strong and united for a fair contract, management quickly reversed its hard-line stand on its sub-contracting, wage and health insurance proposals.
On December 9, our Delta bargaining team arrived at a tentative agreement that retains subcontracting provisions, provides strong across-the-board wage increases and maintains free family health insurance. Members are urged to vote in favor of ratifying this agreement on December 17.
After a month of big victories and showing that we are strong and united for contracts that respect our commitment to top quality patient care, bargaining teams and members at the rest of our Sutter facilities are pressing forward. At Alta Bates Summit, our bargaining team has already received major concessions from management on the issue of subcontracting. Over 100 members, family and friends turned out for an informational picket at Sutter Eden on December 7. On December 16, SEIU-UHW members at Sutter CPMC will be standing strong at an informational picket of their own.
