Upcoming Ads to highlight cuts to children's healthcare by Supervisors Case and Larson
FRESNO, CA - Members of the Service Employees International Union - United Healthcare Workers West (SEIU-UHW) have sent a mailer to Fresno residents highlighting Supervisors Judy Case's and Phil Larson's cuts to law enforcement at the same time they gave a big raise to the county's top administrator. The two county supervisors voted for a 17% salary increase for John Navarrette, the county's administrative officer. They then approved a budget plan with $7.5 million in cuts for the Fresno County Sheriff's office.
The mailer complements the radio advertisement - "I Cut the Sheriff" - that began airing last week. It is the second piece of a comprehensive effort to hold the supervisors accountable for their cuts to vital services while handing out raises to bureaucrats, wasteful spending, and prioritizing the needs of special interests over the needs of the community.
In the coming weeks, the spotlight will shine on Supervisors Case's and Larson's cuts to public health services, including the elimination of tuberculosis screening, and cuts to the Family Immunization Clinic; Maternal, Child, and Adolescent Health; and California Children's Physical Therapy Program, as well as home care and the lifeline it provides to thousands of Fresno residents.
