College Hospital Workers Vote YES to Join SEIU-UHW

Enthusiastic and ready to make improvements, more than 230 healthcare workers at College Hospital in Cerritos kicked off President’s Day weekend by voting to join SEIU-UHW.

Healthcare workers at the Cerritos hospital rallied together around safer staffing ratios, and plan to work together in SEIU-UHW to make key improvements to care and safety.

Now, with the strength of 150,000 SEIU-UHW brothers and sisters, College Hospital workers will move forward to negotiating a contract that improves care in the facility and improves jobs in the community.

“These past few weeks were a test for all of us. We did what we felt was right for staff and the patients. Now we can move forward and build a better work place for everyone. This was a victory for everyone. ”
Alejandra Quiñones, LVN, College Hospital Cerritos

“We are no longer at will employees and now have a say in our future. Our future will no longer be dictated but negotiated.”
Chris Ziehm, Mental Health Worker. College Hospital Cerritos

Hopefully seiu does a better job at College Hospital than they do at Garden Grove. No raise for 3 years and an unforced contract.
