[May 1, 2015] OCEANSIDE, Calif. – One-hundred thirty healthcare workers voted to improve patient care at a community hospital in Oceanside by joining SEIU-United Healthcare Workers West.
“Our goal is to provide the best safe patient care, and that will only get better now that we’ve voted to join together in our union,” said Raul Gamez, a Registered Respiratory Therapist at Tri City Medical Center in Oceanside. “Now we will have a stronger voice in how care is delivered each day, which will have a positive impact on the hospital and our community.”
The Tri-City workers include respiratory therapists, x-ray technicians, mammogram technicians, ultrasound technicians, computer tomography technicians and physical therapy assistants. An additional 700 Tri-City employees from different departments had previously joined SEIU-UHW.
Founded in 1961, Tri-City Medical Center is a public hospital with 397 beds.
