On October 20, the Kaiser Downey Steward Council held its annual member picnic to acknowledge all the hard work that members have been doing inside the facility. From gathering a record number of bargaining surveys to securing unity petition signatures to show both Kaiser and NUHW our solidarity, SEIU-UHW members have made our union stronger than ever at Downey.
The main topic of discussion at the festivities was the bargaining survey results, which identified healthcare as the number one issue that members are concerned about. At the event, members shared ideas on how we will defend our healthcare, wages, and job security in the upcoming 2012 bargaining and we committed to doing whatever it takes to win a great contract.
