OAKLAND – Dave Regan, president of the 150,000-member SEIU-United Healthcare Workers West, issued the following statement after today’s U.S. Supreme Court Ruling on the Affordable Care Act.
“California has already gone a long way down the road on healthcare reform, further than any other state, and now that the Supreme Court has ruled it’s time to punch the accelerator even harder to bring health coverage to millions of Californians who suffer every day because they can’t get the healthcare they need.
“This Supreme Court decision will literally save lives and ease the suffering of countless people. It brightens the future for millions in California and the nation, and it reaffirms that in America it is no longer acceptable to shut people out of healthcare because of who they are, where they work, their economic condition, or their existing health.”
