CORE STEWARD TRAINING PART 1 (10AM TO 4PM):

Participants will become familiar with the values and history of SEIU-UHW West and the role, legal rights and responsibilities of stewards. We will also discuss recognizing what is a grievance and what is not and how to investigate a grievance. Participants will also learn skills to effectively communicate with members and management around grievance issues.

CORE STEWARD TRAINING PART 2 (10AM TO 4PM):

Participants will learn how to write a grievance and practice basic skills in understanding a contract. We will discuss a steward’s right to information, how to be an effective steward, what to do when a member contacts you and a complete overview of the grievance process.

At Core Steward Training you will learn how to get onto the SEIU-UHW E-Learning system (UHW Leadership Training Center) to continue your Core Steward Training of all the topics presented in Core Steward Training Part One and Two.

*If you live in an outlying area from where the Core Steward Trainings are being held, you cannot hold a training in your facility, or you always work on days when the trainings are offered and have access to a computer-you can receive your complete Core Steward Training through the on-line UHW Leadership Training Center.  Please go to www.uhwleadershiptrainingcenter.org to request access.
