Shirley Ware Education Center
The Shirley Ware Education Center (SWEC) is dedicated to:
- Educating health care workers on how to make the workplace healthier and safer for the patients and themselves
- Creating career pathways for healthcare workers
- Providing a means of entering the healthcare field
The Shirley Ware Education Center was founded by SEIU United Healthcare Workers - West in 1998 to provide needed training for current health care workers and to train new workers in response to the health care staffing crisis. Rather than present classes, the Shirley Ware Education Center partners with educational institutions, healthcare employers and funding organizations to develop training programs designed for healthcare workers. In the first few years of training programs, hundreds of workers have taken advantage of the opportunities offered by the Center. |
