Two-day strike starts Tuesday with rally in Santa Barbara
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
June 6, 2025
CENTRAL COAST, CALIF. — Frontline healthcare workers at six Planned Parenthood California Central Coast (PPCCC) clinics in Thousand Oaks, Ventura, Oxnard, Santa Maria, San Luis Obispo, and Santa Barbara will start a two-day unfair labor practice strike on Tuesday, June 10. Striking workers will gather for a rally in Santa Barbara at noon that day.
The strike is in response to bad faith bargaining by management and a refusal to take action to resolve issues of understaffing, high turnover, and patient care concerns. The work stoppage is expected to continue through Wednesday, June 11, if progress is not made in negotiations between Planned Parenthood executives and frontline healthcare workers.
At a time when Planned Parenthood workers are facing political attacks from Congress and need their employer’s support more than ever, frontline caregivers have introduced multiple proposals aimed at improving staff retention, patient safety, and overall working conditions. However, executives continue to dismiss their concerns and engage in unfair labor practices.
Frontline healthcare workers, including doctors, medical assistants, physician assistants, health educators, clinicians, and support staff who provide reproductive and preventive healthcare to thousands of patients each year, will be participating in the strike.
