Placentia, Calif. – Healthcare workers at Tenet Placentia-Linda Hospital voted to stand together for improved safety and jobs by uniting in SEIU-United Healthcare Workers West (SEIU-UHW), a union of more than 100,000 healthcare workers across California.

“This vote is a huge victory for caregivers and our patients,” said Elizabeth Martinez, a certified nursing assistant at Placentia-Linda Hospital. “Now we’ll have a strong voice to make sure we deliver the best possible care to our patients and protect good jobs in this community.”

The victory was overwhelming: 72 percent of the workers voting supported joining SEIU-UHW. The vote applies to 165 workers in a variety of job classes, including CT technologists, environmental services workers, laboratory assistants, nursing assistants, pharmacy techs, radiologic technologists, respiratory care practitioners, surgical technologists, ultrasound technologists, and unit secretaries.

With this victory, SEIU-UHW now represents 4,300 healthcare workers at 12 Tenet-owned hospitals across California.
