Prime Healthcare Employees to Picket SoCal Hospitals Today to Protest Attempt to Cut Their Sick Time and Disability in the Middle of the Pandemic

Protests Set for This Afternoon at Hospitals
In Inglewood and Garden Grove

[5-18-20] LOS ANGELES – Workers at hospitals owned by Prime Healthcare will picket the facilities this afternoon over the corporation’s attempt to cut their sick time and disability even as the employees risk their health treating Covid-19 patients.

A third picket took place early this morning at Centinela Hospital Medical Center in Inglewood.

“I’ve been working at Prime Centinela Hospital for 28 years, and I sacrifice for this hospital all year long,” said Sabrina Coffey-Smith, Telemonitor Tech at Centinela. “But even in the middle of a pandemic, management still can’t see us as essential workers. They want to take away our sick time and disability benefits while we come to work every day and risk our lives.”

The pickets will take place at the following locations and times:

  • 1 to 2:30 p.m. at Encino Hospital Medical Center, 16237 Ventura Blvd., Encino.
  • Noon to 1:30 p.m. at Garden Grove Hospital Medical Center, 12601 Garden Grove Blvd., Garden Grove.
