The 57,000 SEIU-UHW members who work at Kaiser Permanente extend our deepest sympathies to the family of Chairman and CEO Bernard Tyson, who died unexpectedly on November 10.

Our union and Mr. Tyson didn’t always see eye to eye. That’s the nature of relationships between labor and management. But we did always challenge each other to resolve our differences in ways that honored our shared vision of quality healthcare at Kaiser Permanente. The recent four-year agreement we just reached is testament to this shared commitment to working together.

The 57,000 SEIU-UHW members at Kaiser Permanente reaffirm our commitment to the labor management partnership that Mr. Tyson helped sustain. We will honor his legacy by continuing to move our shared vision forward.

In unity,

Dave Regan, President, SEIU-UHW
