We continue to build our demands for a historic agreement at Sharp Healthcare that begins to address years of low wages and understaffing. At our last bargaining session on September 12, we outlined the benefits we need to attract and retain caregivers and introduced new safety protections for caregivers.

  • Worker safety protections from patient abuse
  • Full employer-paid health and dental benefits
  • Improved retirement benefits
  • Improved education benefits

Sharp healthcare also made proposals to restrict our voice at work and make it more difficult for caregivers to come together to improve conditions and patient care. Clearly, we must push management harder to acknowledge the care crisis and work with us to fix it.

“We presented management the essential benefits caregivers need and deserve to address the care crisis at Sharp,” said Michelle Esparza, a home health aide at Sharp HospiceCare. “We cannot attract and retain the staff we need to care for patients if healthcare workers aren’t able to care for themselves and their families first. We are ready for change and management is trying to hold on to the past, but those days are over. We are one union at Sharp Healthcare and we will win.”

Purple up to push back against management proposals to limit our voice and demand a fair contract.
