COH Bargaining Update – November 8, 2023
We had two long days of negotiations with City of Hope last Wednesday and Thursday. Unfortunately, we could not reach an agreement. Below is a list of key issues that are outstanding, along with our latest proposal as well as the Hospital’s last proposal:
SEIU-UHW Proposal
- Increase wage grid by 5.5%
- Merit increases of 6% for meets expectations and 6.5% for exceeds for the next three years
- Market equity adjustments
- Creation of an LVN III classification
- Increase standby pay to $10.00/ hour for uncontrolled standby
- Increase weekend differential to $6.00/ hour
- $100 per month for each certification an employee has
- Union recognition language
- Improved Seniority language
- Ratification bonus of $1500
- Retro pay to October 1, 2023
COH’s Proposal
- Increase wage grid by 3.5% in year one, 3% in year two and 3% in year three
- Merit increases of 5.5% for meets expectations and 6% for exceeds in year one
- 4.75% for meets expectations and 5.25% for exceeds in year two
- 4.5% for meets expectations and 5% for exceeds in year three
- Rejected our proposal to create an LVN III classification
- Increase standby pay to $8.00/ hour for uncontrolled standby
- Rejected our proposal to increase weekend differential
- Rejected our proposal to increase certification premium
- Rejected our proposal for Union recognition
- Rejected our proposal for improved seniority language
The Hospital asked for time to review some additional proposals we presented last Thursday. They asked for a 30-day extension, which the team granted. The extension of the CBA is to December 1, 2023. We are confirming additional bargaining dates.
