Stationary Engineers On Strike in Kaiser Northern California

Stationary Engineers Local 39, which represents engineers throughout Northern California, will be going on strike at midnight on Friday, September 17, 2021. Their contract is expiring, and Kaiser has disrespected them in negotiations, failing to even respond to many of their proposals. We’re all experiencing disrespect from Kaiser these days so we can all relate.

Here’s how you can support the Stationary Engineers:

  • You can choose, as an individual, to join their picket lines before and after work and on your breaks. Show them support.
  • Send an email to Kaiser CEO Greg Adams that you are a Kaiser employee who values the work of the contributions of the engineers to your hospital and you want to see them treated fairly.
  • If you prefer not to cross a picket line, you have the legal right to make that individual decision.Call your supervisor and tell them you don’t want to cross a picket line. Contact your steward if you are retaliated against in any way. Understand that you will not be paid for the days you are refusing to cross the picket line.
