NEWS ALERT: VOX Article Highlights SEIU-UHW Members’ Grit

This great article spotlights several of our fellow SEIU-UHW members from Dignity, Tenet, and Kaiser — and shows how critical we are in this fight:

“Less visible [than doctors and RNs] but no less important is the army of support staff whose daily exposure to Covid-19 patients — from changing their clothes to inserting life-saving ventilator tubes — sometimes exceeds that of the doctors they assist.”

NEW COVID-19 FACEBOOK VIDEO: Childcare & Temporary Housing

On last night’s COVID-19 Facebook Premiere video, we clearly lay out the childcare and temporary housing resources available to us as SEIU-UHW members.

And be sure to check out our resources page for all the latest support available to us — including childcare, temporary lodging, and testing.

NEW HOUSING RESOURCE: Temporary RVs for Healthcare Workers

We’ve connected with a nationwide organization called RVs for MDs, which makes RVs available as temporary housing for healthcare workers trying to keep our families safe as we treat patients who have COVID-19. Click here to learn more and apply for temporary RV lodging.

OFFICIAL LAUNCH: Meal Donation Program for Caregivers

We’ve formed a fundraising partnership with several relief organizations — and now we’ve officially launched our donation page! This project will provide members in need $100 gift certificates for home-delivered family meals during this pandemic. Share this page far and wide and urge folks to donate a meal to make life a little easier for caregivers and our families as we lead the state through this crisis!

AND FINALLY TODAY: Leading with Heart . . .

Hayward City Councilmember Aisha Wahab shows she’s a healthcare warrior by donating much-needed face shields to caregivers at Sutter Alta Bates Summit Medical Center and Kaiser Oakland. Way to have our backs and cover our faces, Councilmember Wahab!
