HOUSING RESOURCES

NEW: Temporary Lodging Through Airbnb

Today we launched a program in partnership with Airbnb to make available to SEIU-UHW members in good standing a limited number of no-cost lodgings so we can self-isolate between shifts to protect our loved ones from exposure to infection. Click here to learn more and apply.

Kaiser Members

We’ve negotiated with Kaiser Permanente and secured hotel lodging for employees working at least 20 hours per week (including per diems) who have been exposed to COVID-19 or who are working long shifts. Click here to learn more about this benefit and how to apply.

Statewide Hotel Lodging

At our urging, Governor Newsom took action to address our housing needs by rolling out a program that provides hotel rooms close to our facilities for healthcare workers who have been exposed to or tested positive for COVID-19. Click here to learn more and begin the application process.

Temporary RV Lodging

We’ve connected with a nationwide organization called RVs for MDs, which makes RVs available as temporary housing for healthcare workers trying to keep our families safe as we treat COVID-19 patients. Click here to learn more and apply.

KEY CHILDCARE RESOURCES

Statewide

SEIU-UHW has partnered with Carina Care, an online matching service that’s connecting us to unionized, licensed childcare providers near our homes. Carina Care has given us a link — only available to SEIU-UHW members — to give us priority for childcare. Click here to get started.

Kaiser Members

SEIU-UHW members across Kaiser have negotiated childcare stipends of up to $300 a week. Click here to learn more.

L.A. Dignity Members

Members at Dignity California and Dignity Northridge are eligible for childcare stipends of $100 per shift, free referrals to licensed providers, and free childcare at pop-up centers near your hospitals. Click your facility below to learn more:

FROM THE FRONTLINES: Winning Stronger Safety

Congratulations to Kaiser Downey lab staff who stood together, spoke up, and won a new safety commitment from management today. Now all phlebotomists who serve PUI patients will have N95 masks. Great work SEIU-UHW Steward and Executive Board Member Walter Narvaez for leading the charge. Now it’s time for all Kaiser labs to follow Downey’s lead!
