TODAY — FACEBOOK LIVE: Building a More Stable Present and Future

Watch our COVID-19 Facebook Live sessionfrom Thursday, April 30 at 5:30 p.m. We’ll tackle important questions about how we and our families can find stability during this pandemic and beyond:

“I’m getting flexed at work — am I eligible for state unemployment benefits and how do I apply?”

“I have loved ones who lost their jobs during this crisis — how can they get trained for good healthcare jobs?”

“Who are these hospital employers who are attacking workers and our families during this pandemic — and what can we do to stand up to them?”

We’ll address these questions and more today on Facebook Live at 5:30 p.m.!

TESTING ALERT: Free COVID-19 Testing for ALL L.A. County Residents

L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti announced yesterday that all Los Angeles County residents can now get free COVID-19 testing — whether or not we are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms. Remember that essential workers have testing priority, so be sure to proudly indicate that you’re a healthcare worker when you sign up.

TELL PRIME: Stop Making This Crisis Worse

We’re all worried about ourselves and our families during this pandemic — and some employers like Prime Healthcare are adding to our worry by attacking caregivers . . .

“As a nursing assistant, I sometimes take care of 14 patients a day. I could be exposed to COVID-19 at any time, but I can’t afford to get sick because Prime is trying to cut our sick and disability leave — during a pandemic! They should be ashamed.”

– Martha Alvarez, CNA, Prime Centinela Hospital

Take a few seconds to tweet out this message calling out Prime’s attacks on workers, our families, and our patients.

IN CASE YOU MISSED IT . . .

Deadline EXTENDED for Continuing Education Units

Due to the pandemic, many healthcare workers licensed by either the CA Dept. of Consumer Affairs or the CA Dept. of Public Health are now permitted to delay earning our Continuing Education Units (CEUs). In addition, some job classes (such as CNAs) are now allowed to complete any or all of our 48 hours of in-service/CEU through an online or distance learning program.
