UNION POWER IN THE DIGITAL AGE

SEIU-UHW members are no longer able to meet face-to-face with each other — so all across the state we’re going digital to keep winning for workers and mobilizing into action.

Last week over 3,000 members across five HCA facilities negotiated a great tentative agreement after weeks of virtual bargaining — and now we’re doing virtual contract ratification. We expect tough economic times ahead, so this is a huge victory at HCA: 3% annual raises, fully-protected healthcare benefits, and wins on critical COVID-19 safety issues.

Here are two ways YOU can go digital to lead the fight against COVID-19:

  1. Take Action: Right now we need masks and other PPE to protect ourselves and heal our patients. Click here to demand that Congress and the Trump administration get us the PPE we need.
  2. Stay Connected: Our frequent COVID-19 Facebook Live sessions are an ideal way for all of us to stay current and share our experiences throughout this epidemic. Join our Facebook Live session TOMORROW, Tuesday, April 7 at 5:30 p.m. — we’ll focus on crucial resources available to immigrant communities during this epidemic, including financial relief and healthcare.

SOLIDARITY FROM CHINA TO CALIFORNIA

Last year a group of Chinese trade unionists came to the U.S. and spent time talking with SEIU-UHW leaders about our shared commitment to quality care and union strength. We just heard from this group again — they shipped a donation of 700 masks from China to caregivers at Sutter Mission Bernal Campus in San Francisco. Wherever we are across the globe, healthcare workers stand in solidarity with each other!

You can help like our friends in China did. We’re leading an effort to secure PPE donations and get them to hospitals throughout the state. Click here for the donation page — and share that page far and wide so that caregivers get the supplies we need!
